About cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser so it can recognise you later. Some are essential to how a site works; others count visitors or serve advertising.

While you read

Browsing Tyrnix and sending an enquiry sets no cookies. There is no visitor analytics, no advertising or social media code, and no embedded video. Our fonts are loaded from our own server rather than a third-party font service.

What the basket sets

Put something in the basket and the shop has to remember it from one page to the next. WooCommerce, which runs the shop, sets three cookies at that moment and not before:

woocommerce_cart_hash	Notices when the contents change, so you are shown the right basket	Until you close the browser

These are strictly necessary for a shop, which is why no banner asks you about them: without them the basket would empty between one page and the next. None carries an advertising identifier, none is read by anyone but this site, and closing the browser is enough to be rid of the first two.

When one of us signs in

The site is built with WordPress. When one of our staff signs in to edit it, WordPress sets the cookies needed for that session, in that person’s browser only. They have nothing to do with visitors.

Future changes

Should we ever add something that relies on non-essential cookies, such as visitor statistics, you will be asked for consent before any is set, and each cookie will be listed here with its purpose and duration.

Managing cookies

You can view, block or delete cookies in your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking them all will stop the basket holding anything; nothing else here depends on one, so reading the site is unaffected.
